This is an historic fiction novel about a boy living in communist Romania. The government is corrupt and treats its citizens cruelly, to put it mildly. This is a time period I knew very little about, and the part I found the most hard to imagine living in is the web of informers that the government wove. Everyone, it seemed, was being blackmailed to inform on others, and there was double and triple crossing. So crazy.

Anyone who likes historic fiction would like this, and anyone who loved Gratz and is perhaps outgrowing him would like this author.
