WCAX Celebrates NMHS Seniors: During the last 15 minutes of the 6:00 news on Tuesday, June 2, WCAX will feature a scrolling list of NMHS seniors, complete with a recorded message and our logo. Other schools will be featured as well, so please watch closely for NMHS. If you miss it, the recording will be posted on WCAX.com the following day.

Library books: You may have received an overdue notice that was automatically emailed by the library system yesterday (Mrs. Kissel thought she had found the magic off switch for those, but apparently not!) There are no overdue fines so you don’t need to worry about renewing the overdue books. Please just keep track of where they are for now and you will be able to return your library books when you drop off your school computer.

Just wanted to let you know that Northfield is scheduled to run in the last 15 minutes (or so depending on timing) of the 6pm news on Tuesday, June 2nd. It will also be up on WCAX.com for you to watch again.

Superintendent Bollard sent an announcement that the final day of school for students is Monday, 6/08/20 - be sure to get work turned in before summer!

Senior breakfast is THIS FRIDAY, 9-12 at NMHS. Seniors can pick up some breakfast goodies and their caps and gowns, curbside style. We will be following all social distancing protocols so please wear your mask!

We WILL be having a graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 20, at 11am outside at Norwich. Most of the ceremony will be taking place in cars, however, we do have some plans for receiving diplomas, recording the ceremony, and taking photographs of the graduates. This event will be reserved for close family members - more specific details are forthcoming!

We will also be celebrating our 8th grade students PARADE STYLE on Monday, June 15 beginning at 9am! The middle school team is putting together the route and will send that out with details this week!

More information to come regarding device and material turn-in as well as pick up of items left at school during dismissal. Thank you for your patience!

Happy birthday to the following students this week: Makayla Locke, Kimberlee Willis Lamson, Hannah Korrow, Kristopher Stone, Landry Tabor, Brianna Morris, Skylar Morris, Michael Brooks, Lillian Olson, and Lizzie Wilder!

May is mental health awareness month. Mental Health America - In 2020, our theme of Tools 2 Thrive will provide practical tools that everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase resiliency regardless of the situations they are dealing with. We now believe that these tools – even those that may need to be adapted for the short term because of COVID-19 and social distancing – will be more useful than ever. Check out this website for these tools: https://www.mhanational.org/mental-health-month

    Summer Opportunity

So many students are needing to make changes to their summer plans in light of COVID-19. We wanted to let you know about our fully funded FREE virtual summer exchange program which can provide a unique and empowering learning experience for youth during these times of restricted travel: The Experiment Digital. The Experiment Digital empowers youth from Algeria, Iraq, Yemen and the United States to be more civically engaged by teaching them how to design and implement a service project for their local communities. For eight weeks (four hours per week) from June 22 to August 16, 2020, students log on to an interactive platform to learn about leadership, civic engagement, and interact with their peers through videos, chats, webinars, and games.

The Experiment in International Living is the most experienced provider of immersive summer abroad programs for high school students. We invite teenagers ages 14–19 from the U.S., Algeria, Iraq, and Yemen to apply online by Wednesday, May 20th. The program does not have a highly competitive application process and is open to motivated students who will complete the program and meet our admissions criteria.
