Hello Williamstown School families,

My name is Kathryn Oliver and this is my third year as the performance arts teacher for Williamstown Elementary School. In addition to general music class, I provide opportunities for students to explore beginning instrument instruction, singing and acting.

I am certified to teach Pk-12 music, I have a BA in jazz and contemporary performance and have almost completed my graduate degree in curriculum design and instruction. My main instruments are singing and piano but I play and enjoy many others as well. I also have competed internationally with an a capella group, and have had experience with dozens of musical theater productions in different venues over the years.

As much as I have enjoyed all my musical opportunities, I really enjoy teaching. I believe that all students can find a way to express themselves through music, and music is a great way to build self esteem, creativity and teamwork. Everyone deserves the chance to learn what it means to be tuneful, beatful and artful, and I strive to make learning fun and interactive. 

It is my honor to work with young people and share the joy, creativity and expression music and performance can bring into our lives and community. I am looking forward to working with all the wonderful WES students and their families this year!
