Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Amy Locarno
This year marks my 24th year as a teacher and my 6th year in Williamstown. Prior to working to Williamstown, I served as the 6-8 humanities teacher in Washington, Vermont. I have also taught in Montpelier and Windsor. I received my bachelor's degree from Western New England University and a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Castleton State College. I am very excited to start this year with the 5th grade class.
This summer has been a busy one for me and my family. We have visited/kayaked at local state parks and swimming holes, been swimming in our own pool, and spent a week in York, Maine in the middle of July. We have also been camping in Warren, New Hampshire at Moose Hillock Campground. We also camped with our extended family in northern Vermont at the end of August. We ended our summer with a trip to Essex, Massachusetts to visit the ocean for one last time before school starts.
In addition, I have read a number of great books over the summer months. I have read some of the novels for our units of study in humanities including a book titled Refugee. This novel follows three main characters from three different periods in history as they flee their homelands in search of a better life with their families. I will read this novel to students during our last unit of the school year.
I look forward to hearing about your summer reading and vacations when we return to school. Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine during these last few days.
