Good Morning - happy 1/2 remote snow day! I know this is new to all of us and in some cases may feel like a bit of a bummer but I know we'll be SO thrilled in June!

Please be sure to check Google Classrooms for up-to-date schedule information. TA starts at 8:30, so grab some breakfast!

Also, February marks Black History Month! We will be celebrating a different African American and their achievements each day - today we honor George Washington Carver! George Washington Carver was a scientist and an inventor who found hundreds of uses for peanuts. He experimented with the legumes to make lotions, flour, soups, dyes, plastics, and gasoline.  He was born into slavery in the 1860s.  After slavery was abolished, he was able to get an education and his contributions to the field of agriculture would not be forgotten. Carver became the first Black scientist to be memorialized in a national monument.

  • New Blog & Follow up to Parent Meeting

Posted by Lee Ann Monroe on 8/14/2020

Good afternoon and welcome to my new blog! This will be a consistent spot to find general information about what's going on at NMHS and will serve as a way for me to build and maintain connection with our community. If you have any suggestions for information you'd like to see posted here, please email me at!

I want to thank everyone who was able to come out to the parent forum about our reopening plans last night. It was so nice to see all of your faces out from behind the screen! We tried to record this event so those not in attendance could view it, however, our recorder died. I apologize for the inconvenience and will do better next time. I am including a link to the questions we were able to answer here: Answers to Questions Everyone is encouraged to email myself or Principal Russell ( for further clarification or to follow up.

Addressed in our discussion but not in the above questions were some more specifics with regards to the daily schedule. Due to feedback received from families, students, and teachers, and in an effort to minimize contact between individuals, HS students will be taking three classes per semester rather than six all year. This should allow everyone to focus their time easier and provide a smoother transition to remote learning should the need arise. We have been able to preserve the majority of student requests/needs in this process and will be reaching out with specific schedules in the next two weeks.

    Enjoy your weekend!
